We are committed to ongoing improvement, using data and insight to support informed decision-making and drive meaningful progress in environmental stewardship.

Our commitment towards Net Zero 2040

As a signatory to the British Retail Consortium’s Climate Action Roadmap, we are committed to supporting the industry’s transition to net zero. We work collaboratively with our suppliers, government and wider stakeholders, while also supporting our customers to play their part in reducing emissions across the value chain.

Canopy

Removing the use of ancient and endangered forests in our supply chain

Through our partnership with Canopy via the CanopyStyle and Pack4Good initiatives, N Brown is committed to eliminating the use of Ancient and Endangered Forests from our supply chains. This includes focusing on the sourcing of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) and expanding our efforts across our packaging supply chain.

We are working to map our MMCF and packaging supply chains, improve traceability, and transition to verified lower-risk and next-generation alternatives where required. By collaborating with suppliers and industry partners, we aim to drive responsible forest stewardship and support the protection of vital ecosystems.

UK TEXTILE PACT

Our commitment towards a circular economy
N Brown is a voluntary signatory of Textile 2030, which was developed by WRAP with a focus on designing for circularity, implementing circular business models and closing the loop on materials. We are committed to a 50% reduction in our aggregate carbon footprint and a 30% reduction in aggregate water footprint by 2030.
Our commitment towards sustainable textile products

N Brown is a voluntary signatory to the UK Textiles Pact (formerly Textile 2030), developed by WRAP to drive industry action on circularity. The initiative focuses on designing for circularity, scaling circular business models and closing the loop on materials.

Through this commitment, we are working towards a 50% reduction in our aggregate carbon footprint and a 30% reduction in our aggregate water footprint by 2030.

United Nations Global Compact

Signatories of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative

We continue to be signatories to the the United Nations Global Compact which is the world’s largest corporate social responsibility initiative. This brings companies together to work jointly and align strategies on universal human rights, labour rights, environmental issues and anti-corruption. We submit our Communication on Progress report annually and our ESG Operating Committee meets regularly to drive activities against the Sustainable Development Goals.

Better Cotton

The Better Cotton Initiative
Our responsible materials

We are committed to increasing the use of lower-impact materials across our product ranges, supporting more responsible sourcing and improved traceability within our supply chains.

We partner with Better Cotton to support improved cotton farming practices globally. As the programme evolves, we are progressing towards the use of traceable Better Cotton, strengthening visibility and accountability from farm to product.

Alongside this, we are increasing our use of certified recycled materials, including those verified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). These standards provide assurance on recycled content and supply chain integrity.

We also support the use of organic fibres, certified to recognised standards such as the Organic Content Standard (OCS) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which promote more sustainable agricultural practices and restrict the use of harmful chemicals.

Through these initiatives, we continue to expand our use of lower-impact materials while improving transparency and traceability across our supply chain.

Environmental Protocol

We are committed to becoming a net-zero business by 2040. Under our Environmental Protocol, we have built a guiding framework to support suppliers adhere to our environmental standards and policies, driving the adoption of best industry practices. This framework aids suppliers in measuring and identifying their environmental impacts and encourages efficient resource and energy use.
