The Board of Directors of N Brown Group plc recognises the company's responsibility for minimising the environmental impacts of its activities and those of its subsidiary companies. This policy applies to N Brown Group plc and all of its subsidiary companies ("the Group").

The Board has assessed the key environmental risks in its Group operations and has reviewed the ways in which the Group's activities impact upon the environment. The Group is committed to the use of performance targets in key areas, including paper and packaging use, waste production and energy consumption, with the objective of restricting any increases to levels commensurate with changes in the level of business activity and, wherever possible, achieving relative reductions. The Group will strive to continually improve its environmental performance for the benefit of all its stakeholders.

The Board has delegated specific responsibility for implementation of this policy to a nominated director sitting on the Board of its principal trading subsidiary.

In particular, the Group will:

  • Integrate environmental management into its business activities to ensure that environmental issues are considered.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation as a minimum.
  • Relay the importance of controlling our environmental impacts to its employees and contractors to ensure that they actively observe and support our environmental programmes.
  • Ensure that improvements are incorporated into all new or refurbished buildings and equipment wherever practicable.

The Group aims to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in:

  • Recycling initiatives, including packaging and office waste paper reduction schemes
  • Waste segregation
  • Energy and water use/conservation
  • Procurement of paper, cardboard, services and consumables from 'green' sources with a view to minimising any environmental impact.
